The Hub operates the City of Memphis Emergency Warming/Cooling Center during extreme cold or hot weather, providing a place of safety and kindness for the unhoused population to shelter from dangerous conditions. During Warming/Cooling Center events, we open our doors to those in need of respite from the outdoors, while working to help guests find more comfortable overnight shelter.
We welcome all who are experiencing homelessness and in need of respite from the weather. Guests will need to provide basic information to check in, but IDs are not required. Blankets and sack meals will be provided while supplies last. The Hub’s regular services will be limited during a Warming/Cooling Center.
The opening hours and location for each Warming/Cooling Center will vary depending on the weather. During a Warming/Cooling Center event, transportation will be provided by MATA. The most up-to-date information as well as ride request details will be posted on the Hub’s Facebook and Instagram

Support Our Warming and Cooling Center
Operating a Warming/Cooling Center is no small feat and we need your support to ensure that we can continue to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all. Here are some ways you can support:
Make a monetary donation
At the height of the season, it costs $400/hour to keep our Warming Center running. Your donations help to cover costs of blankets, food, utilities, and most importantly, professional, compassionate staff! Make a life-saving donation today.
Make an in-kind donation
We rely on our community to donate essential items such as water, blankets, and so much more to keep our Warming/Cooling Centers well-stocked! See our full in-kind donation list here.
Donate meals and/or snacks for our guests
We strive to serve tasty, filling, and nutritious meals to guests while they are with us. The number of guests varies significantly over the season (from 50 people to 400!) – please reach out to donations@hospitalityhub.org to discuss details.
Work or volunteer at our Cooling & Warming Centers!
We hire seasonal workers (PRNs) to help us operate our Warming/Cooling Centers. These PRNs work alongside our full-time staff to help welcome and sign guests into the center, hand out meals and blanks, and help to maintain a safe and clean environment for our guests. A full job description can be found here. Â To apply, please register for a mandatory Info Session here.
