Did you know? The Hub serves as the city’s cooling center for the unhoused when temperatures become dangerously high during the summer. Here are some quick facts about our cooling center:
- This past week, we welcomed approximately 65 guests each day the Cooling Center was open. We expect those numbers to increase as the summer wears on!
- We generally serve two meals, lunch and dinner, during a Cooling Center, and add breakfast when the extreme temperatures require us to stay open 24 hours.
- Last year, our Cooling Center was open for 10 days over the entire summer. This year we’ll have opened as a Cooling Center 5 days before we even hit July.
